How much does a Happy Cat Franchise cost to get started?
Our estimates are that an “initial investment” into a Happy Cat Hotel franchise unit is between $150,000 & $450,000 which includes the franchise fee.
The franchise fee for a 10 year license, support, and training is $25,000.
Ongoing royalties are 5% of gross revenue.
The “initial investment” however will depend on many factors.
How big of a facility do you want to operate?
What are the lease terms?
What will be the cost of all necessary leasehold improvements and construction elements?
How much staff will you decide to hire? How much will you invest in marketing?
These and many more questions will lead you to the total cost to own your own Happy Cat Hotel (or any brick and mortar business for that matter). As with any new business venture, it’s important that you have the capital needed to adequately fund your new business.
That said, the team at Happy Cat Hotel franchising is here to help you through every step of the process. We know how hard it is to start a business, much less succeed at one. That’s the benefit of becoming part of our franchise family. While we won’t do the work for you, we do support, guide, and mentor you throughout your franchise life with us.
How much money can my Happy Cat Hotel make?
While the SEC prohibits franchisors from offering a projection of earnings to any prospective franchisee, our Federal Disclosure Document will state the total earnings of any company or franchise owned unit as a reference. From there, one must consider the myriad factors that might make each unit’s earnings what they are and how they may differ from others. How many rooms will you offer? What’s your market’s price point? Do you have significant competition in the area? How much traffic travels by your facility, are you near an airport? How much do you pay your staff? How much do you pay yourself? How much is your rent? These and many of the same questions related to cost will need to be asked here to truly answer this question.
Will I have a town, city, or state all to myself?
Franchise territories are primarily established by determining an established cross section between population density and mileage. There could be more than one Happy Cat in a densely populated city, while only a select few throughout the entirety of a sparsely populate state. Franchisees may also engage in regional development deals which will lock up a series of neighboring territories.
How will I know how to set pricing and take reservations?
We will mentor you on all aspects of your Happy Cat operation. You can decide how to price your services based on factors at play in your market. We will teach you how to take reservations using specific software required by us.
What kind of experience do I need? How can I learn more about cats?
Professional experience is not required. We’re inclined to advertise this opportunity by saying simply, “Must love cats” but unfortunately it will require a bit more than that. “Must be willing to learn more about cats” is more like it. We will teach you the ways of the cat by providing you with a plethora of learning materials and exercises including hands on work with our pride agents, video work, and over 150 pages of feline behavior basics before you even open your doors.
What is your clientele like? Crazy cat ladies I assume?
Well, yeah…but here’s the thing…The crazy cat lady segment has evolved and now includes a very diverse collection of singles, partners, families, race, ethnicity, gender, education, occupation, and hobbies. Happy Cat customers know, cats are where its at!
Are there any advertising requirements or fees?
Yes. We require that a franchisee contribute 1% gross revenues to the brand’s national advertising campaign and contribute 2% gross revenues to local advertising. While we cannot guarantee the success of any advertising efforts in any particular market, we can provide guidance and support for best practices in marketing a franchise unit.
Is there financing available?
While we do not offer financing opportunities ourselves, we can connect you with institutions that do. We’re happy to announce our strategic relationship with Guidant Financial, the industry leader in franchise business financing.
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for a franchise?
A good business owner has many skills, but what people don’t realize is that most of those skills are accumulated throughout their business life. What they all have in common to start is curiosity, tenacity, and endurance. With that, anything is possible. At Happy Cat Hotel Franchising, we not only guide you along the path of brand identity and consistency, and operations, but aim to support your professional growth and develop your business acumen along the way. Happy Cat franchisees are curious (to learn more and ask appropriate questions in order to satisfy that curiosity), tenacious (driven to do whatever it takes for their business), and have the endurance (to keep that tenacity ratcheted up, even when the going gets tough).
Finally, Happy Cat franchisee candidates come from all walks of life, locations, and cultures including corporate executives, engineers, veterinarians and other pet industry professionals, recent college graduates, early retirement candidates, vets, families, partners, customers, and even Happy Cat company unit employees.
