Happy Cat Hotel & Spa continues growth with South St. Louis location
Happy Cat Hotel & Spa South St. Louis marks the brand’s 11th open and operating location, bringing its cat-exclusive boarding and grooming experience to even more cat parents across the country. With location number 12 set to open next month in Fairfax, Virginia, and additional hotels underway in Chicago, Charlotte, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Orlando, and St. Petersburg, this is an exciting time for the Happy Cat franchise system.
As the demand for specialized pet care continues to grow, Happy Cat Hotel & Spa offers something truly unique in the boarding and grooming industry: a hotel designed entirely around cats.

New cat-exclusive experience in South St. Louis
Happy Cat Hotel & Spa South St. Louis offers luxury cat boarding and professional feline grooming in a calm, enriching environment built specifically for feline comfort.
Unlike traditional boarding facilities, Happy Cat Hotels are thoughtfully designed for cats from the ground up. Each location features private suites, climbing structures, cozy bedding, enrichment toys, and peaceful surroundings free from barking dogs. Cat parents can also stay connected through regular updates and 24-hour webcam access, giving them peace of mind while they are away.
This cat-first approach has helped Happy Cat Hotel & Spa stand out in the growing pet care industry. For many cat owners, finding care that is truly designed for cats has historically been difficult. Happy Cat fills that need with personalized attention, trained feline handling, and an elevated hospitality experience created just for feline guests.
Meet the Owners: Jon and Caroline Berg
The South St. Louis location is owned and operated by Jon and Caroline Berg, whose love for cats has been part of their story from the very beginning.
Cats have always been at the core of Jon and Caroline’s relationship. From their first date at a cat café to merging their cat families and raising several special needs cats together, their passion for feline care has been a meaningful part of their life together.
Jon also brings extensive professional experience. As a certified veterinary assistant with more than 10 years of animal shelter and veterinary clinic experience, Jon understands the importance of safe, thoughtful, and enriching care. He looks forward to creating a comfortable experience for every feline guest who walks through the door.
For Jon and Caroline, opening Happy Cat Hotel & Spa South St. Louis is more than a business venture. It is an opportunity to bring a needed service to their local pet care community and give cat parents a place they can trust.
“Cats deserve an environment built just for them,” Jon said. “We’re thrilled to open a place where cats can stay that is designed around their comfort, enrichment, and well-being while their families travel or need extra support.”
“St. Louis has such a strong community of cat lovers,” Caroline said. “We’re excited to create a place where people feel confident leaving their cats, knowing they’ll receive attentive, specialized care.”

A growing franchise built around a clear need
The opening of Happy Cat Hotel & Spa South St. Louis reflects the larger momentum behind the Happy Cat franchise system. Cat ownership continues to be a major part of the pet care market, yet many boarding and grooming services are still built primarily around dogs or mixed-pet environments.
Happy Cat Hotel & Spa was created to change that.
Founded in Windsor, Connecticut in 2014, Happy Cat Hotel & Spa was built as a cat-only oasis where feline guests receive personalized attention, enrichment, and professional care for boarding, grooming, and other trusted cat care needs. What began as a single location has grown into a national franchise opportunity with a clear mission: to raise the standard for cat boarding and grooming.
As more franchise owners join the system, Happy Cat continues to bring its cat-exclusive model to new communities across the United States. Each new opening represents more than expansion. It represents another community gaining access to specialized feline care, another group of cat parents receiving peace of mind, and another team dedicated to making cats feel safe, comfortable, and understood.

What Comes Next
With South St. Louis now joining the Happy Cat Hotel & Spa, the brand’s growth shows no signs of slowing down. Fairfax, Virginia, is preparing to open next month as location number 12, with more locations in development in Chicago, Charlotte, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Orlando, and St. Petersburg.
This continued growth is an exciting milestone for Happy Cat Hotel & Spa and a reflection of what cat parents across the country have been asking for: a place designed specifically for their cats.
